Favorite Firearm Friday

I’ll start this article prefacing that I am a “Glock guy”. I think Glocks are fantastic firearms out of the box and have been proven over time in the hands of civilians, military, and law enforcement. There are reasons why the name Glock is as popular as it is in popular culture as well as how popular it is in the firearm industry.

The Glock 19 Gen 5 is my go-to everyday carry firearm. I’ve put thousands of rounds through this firearm and have had very few malfunctions that were not caused by user error. It's small enough to carry under 90% of clothing I wear and also large enough to use as a duty pistol OWB. It is compatible with larger magazines and uses accessories that larger variations of the firearm (Models 17,45,19,34) use that give me a lot of options to choose from. I chose this generation of 19 mainly because I am personally not a fan of finger grooves that previous models offered and the magazine release is larger on this model.

On this Glock 19 I use:

Trijicon Type 2 RMR 1 MOA dot

Streamlight TLR-1 HL

Trijicon Suppressor High sights

The accessories I have set up on this pistol aid in quicker sight acquisition with the red dot optic mounted on top and an ability to positively identify a target with the weapon light. I believe all firearms used for home defense or self-defense should have an option to use tools such as these to increase your ability in a self-defense scenario.

I highly recommend anyone who is interested in owning a firearm, take a look at a Glock as one of the options out there. They are not for everyone but I believe if it fits your needs, it can be a strong, reliable, and effective firearm for defense, competition, and recreation.
